- Auld Lang Syne

- Auld Lang Syne

Synonymous with New Year's Eve, both music and lyrics were composed by the celebrated Scottish poet, Robbie Burns. "Auld Lang Syne" (or "Days Gone By" as it might have been called if written today) expresses the profound longing many of our early pioneers felt being separated from family and friends - "now oceans broad between us roar." Auld Lang Syne was sung at every social occasion.

Track 7 of Ghosts of the Mighty Fraser (1999)
* Also featured on A Fine Kettle of Fish (2004)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot for auld lang syne

We twa ha' run aboot th' braes an' pu'd the gowans fine
But we've ventured mony a weary fet since auld lang syne

We twa ha' paddled in the burn from morning sun 'till dine
Now oceans broad between us roar since auld lang syne

For auld lang syne my dear, for auld lang syne
We'll drink a glass of kindness yet for auld lang syne

So here's a hand my trusty friend and gi'se a hand o' thine
And we'll tak a richt good willy-wot for auld lang syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot for auld lang syne

For auld lang syne my dear, for auld lang syne
We'll drink a glass o' kindness yet, for auld lang syne
