Scotland Tour '06 |

Oct 7, 2006: Venue in Brodick, Isle Of Arran: One of the first gigs on the tour and also the ancestral home of the Steamboatin Jamiesons. There was a 6th brother who stayed behind and the night of the show there were three generations of this famous line in attendance.

Oct 8, 2006: Waiting to Leave Arran: This is a picture of one of the ocean going ferries that we took throughout the tour. These ferries are designed for rough waters like the Irish Sea and the North Sea. They are very different from the local Pacific NW ferries a lot of us are used to.

Oct 11, 2006: Mtn Ben Nevis is the largest mountain in the UK and is just over 4,000 feet. We saw this near Loch Linnhe when we visiting friends at Watercolour Music a great studio in a farm near Fort William. www.watercolourmusic.com

Oct 12, 2006: Castle Arrg This castle was featured in one of the Monty Python movies . . . just an incredible view on our way from Fort William to Fochabers.

Oct 13, 2006: Inverness: This is a beautiful place that became our a frequent stop over throughout the tour. It is the gateway to the highlands and had a Starbucks and cheaper gas!

Oct 15, 2006: NE Coast This was one of the views as we made our way up the NE coast to Thurso to catch the ferry to Orkney.

Oct 15, 2006: This is Tiller's Folly living the high life on tour. Do the three bears come to mind?

Oct 17, 2006: The Old Man of Hoy one of the views from the ferry on the way to Stromness and Orkney. The Old Man is over 500' high and is set off by some huge cliffs just to the west that drop 1,000' to the ocean.

Oct 17, 2006: Scara Brae in Orkney. This is a village that dates back to 3,000 BC right on the ocean. It was uncovered after a bitter storm blew away the sand dunes.

Oct 17, 2006: St Magnus Cathedral This is an incredible cathedral in Kirkwall, also in Orkney. It was started in 1400 and something. We had the pleasure and honour of being the first non Scotts to play in this cathedral on our last tour. It is also the burial place of John Rae.

Oct 19, 2006: This is a good picture of Bruce on a stormy day in Thurso. Notice the castle in the background.

Oct 19, 2006: Nolan in the same place in Thurso. There were surfers out that day but none of the pictures turned out. This is a big surfing place and we met some surfers from Sweden.

Oct 19, 2006: The Castle in the background in Nolan and Bruce's pictures in Thurso turned out to be a fake or a folly and was built in the 1900's as a decorative feature.

Oct 20, 2006: Kinlochbervie This is the view from the front door of the B&B we stayed at. The sun was just setting and it was incredible.

Oct 21, 2006: We visited this beautiful beach the morning after the show in Kinlochbervie. It was about 5 miles away along a one track with sheep everywhere. There was a surfer here also.

Oct 23, 2006: Picture of me (Laurence) at Hadrian's Wall after we again had driven the whole length of Scotland from north to south for a show in Kirkcubright. We had a day to explore and couldn't miss out the opportunity to see Hadrian's Wall. At one time it was over 16' high but it has been plundered for 100's of years. It is still something to see.

Oct 23, 2006: A great shot of Bruce walking along the Tyne river in Newcastle. It's a very clean and pretty place. At one time it was a huge coal mining centre and I think the tunnels run for miles under the English Channel.

Oct 24, 2006: Portmahomack - A cool little pub for a Tuesday night. We had played there once before and left the owner a CD which he put on the jukebox. The younger fans became very excited when they finally realized that we were the band that had recorded Water at the Bar one of their favourites.

Oct 27, 2006: This was a really cool theatre in Stornaway on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides.

Oct 27, 2006: Again Stornaway at an Lanntair (the Lantern). This was our last show on the tour.

Oct 28, 2006: James Alexander and Nolan the fiddle guys. James is the artistic director of Speyfest, an incredible fiddler, and the main reason we have been able to tour Scotland.

Oct 28, 2006: The last shot on the way to Glasgow airport.
